Tipping the yacht crew after a successful charter is of course at your discretion but it is customary to tip the Captain and crew at the conclusion of a charter for excellent care and service.

As a guide, a gratuity of 7-10% of the base charter fee is considered fair, while exceptional service and attention to detail can warrant a tip of 15% or more, but always at your discretion.

In the Mediterranean, most sailboat or yacht rentals are always from Saturday to Saturday, for one reason – optimization of schedules.
Check-in is usually done on Saturday afternoon. The base manager will often ask you to return to the port the following week on Friday night to be ready for disembarking on Saturday morning. The technical team and cleaning team will then need to prepare the boat for the following clients. Weekly charter/rental is shortened by half a day to give some time for the base to intervene between each charter/rental.

The balance is payable at least one month before the start of the rental. Additional services are usually paid locally.

Life on a boat will generally be informal, we recommend not to take too many clothes. What you’ll definitely need is clothes for swimming and some smart clothes for dining and land trips. As evenings may sometimes be quite cool, tame something warmer just in case.

It’s usually not allowed to wear shoes on board but if you need any, so take a pair rubber or plastic soled shoes that you’ll use only on board, and any foot wear for land trips and evenings.

Don’t forget to take medicines and personal things that you may need during your vacation. Sun crème and sunbathing towel are essential, and you’ll probably want to take a book or a tablet. Clean towels and bed linen are provided in your cabins.

Safety-wise, a yacht is very safe. We can provide children’s life jackets and safety harnesses, as well as putting netting completely around the yacht. It’s a very safe environment.
